If you are new to open water or have been struggling with your open water swimming this is the course for you. We will help you with everything from your wetsuit to easing fears and helping you complete your first 400M open water swim. The course is delivered by expert British Triathlon Accredited coaches with full water safety cover and lifeguards provided by Shepperton Open Water Swim.
The first half of the session is theory based, helping you put your wetsuit on correctly, inform you of how to swim well in open water as well as help ease any anxieties you may be feeling. After this the group will head to the water where we will enter and perform a basic swim test before we head into the open water proper. We will swim round in a group with the coach staying alongside the slowest swimmer at all times, stopping at regular intervals to practice skills such as sighting, turning around buoys and swimming in close proximity to others.
If at any point during the course you wish to exit the water you can simply inform the coach who will attract the attention of the water safety crews who will take back to land with their kayak. You will never be any further than 200M from dry land at any point during the course.
Your place is not confirmed until we receive payment, payment instructions will be sent following confirmation.
Spaces are limited to ten per session to ensure optimal delivery in a safe environment. If you believe you would benefit from coaching on a one to one basis, you can book onto one of our 1to1 sessions at 9AM or 10AM on our events page.
As this will be the first session of the year it is dependent on the lake being open on their predicted date of 12th May, however this is dependent on the water temperature. If the lake is not open on the 12th tickets will be valid at any of our other sessions.
