Simon Olney- Head Coach

I am a London based IRONMAN Certified Coach passionate about helping people achieved their goals in multisport. After discovering triathlon in 2012, I left my job in the film industry to pursue a career in the world of multisport, working as a swimming teacher, in a bike shop and as an open water coach alongside my growing coaching business.

I am experienced in coaching athletes across the line of their first IRONMAN and am currently in training for IRONMAN UK myself. I believe that while flashy new wetsuits and bikes are great tools, unlocking an athlete’s physiological potential and developing mental toughness is the key to faster times.

I aim to create a truly personal service for athletes, establishing the way they want the relationship to work early on, and using scientific methods to test and develop athletes to make sure they reach peak fitness for race day. I am aware of not only the physical stresses that triathlon places on us, but the emotional costs of training for a big event, I aim to support athletes all the way through their journey and create training plans that compliment their lifestyle.

Alongside my coaching business I also plan and deliver courses for British Triathlon and the National Open Water Coaching Association, primarily working with athletes preparing for their first triathlon, developing their confidence in open water and improving their swim technique. I am also head of triathlon at one of London’s largest running clubs, where I lead two hours of swim coaching every week and organise the club’s Womble Triathlon.
