Simon Olney- Head Coach
I am a British Triathlon High Performing Coach based in the Cotswolds and SouthWest London, with experience in helping help both amateur and professional athletes achieve their goals with bespoke training plans and coached sessions build around their specific needs.
In many ways, I am not your normal triathlon coach. I did not grow up in a sporting environment, I picked up triathlon at the age of 22 with very little experience in swimming, cycling or running. I juggled training with working 50 hours a week, a social life and family. I went from swimming heads up breaststroke and training on a hybrid bike to winning races in the space of three years. In 2016 I decided I wanted to help others achieve their triathlon goals, so took the decision to step away from the film industry and start a new career as a triathlon coach.
My coaching really is focused around the individual. I want to build a programme around you that is fun, challenging, easy to follow and sustainable. Not deliver overly complicated training programmes that leave athletes feeling burnt out and jaded. I cover all areas of athlete development in detail, from nutrition to skills sessions, and strength work to carefully curated interval sessions.
When not coaching I can be found walking my retired greyhound Poppy, volunteering with the local scout troop or teaching children about biodiversity.
