I’ve been in the sport of triathlon for over ten years, training and racing at every distance from sprint to Ironman with race wins and championship titles to my name. In 2016 I left my career in the film industry to become a full time triathlon coach.
I taught myself to swim as an adult, and learned to fit my training in around a busy, high pressure lifestyle as a lighting designer on high end film and TV. I like to think of myself as a pragmatist who works with athletes to create the right plan for them, rather than someone who dictates the sessions they need to be doing, or the hours they need to be training.
My coaching relationships are built on mutual respect and trust, rather than on me being an authoritative figure, as I believe good coaching is all about open communication, rather than magic workouts or “hacks”.
While I have a proven track record coaching hundreds of athletes to their first Ironman finish or to qualify for world championship events, my real drive is to help athletes create a healthy long term relationship with exercise. Rather than batter athletes with unsustainable levels of volume and intensity for several months on end, I’m more interested in ensuring lifelong participation in at least one of the sports.
